Ontario Ministry of Labor, Immigration, Training, Skills Development (MLITSD) rolls out its new Working at Heights Standard for providers
Providers whose Working at Heights program is endorsed by the Chief Prevention Officer (CPO) for the province of Ontario are able to begin submitting the changes to their approved program beginning August 1, 2023.
The announcement for the changes came through May 12, 2023.
You don't have to take the course again if you've been trained recently! It just means the next time you see our course, it'll include some more information and a different approach to helping you learn the material more easily. Good news for those of you who learn best with a "hands on" approach!
The new changes to the construction based program are to include:
- an enhanced ladder section portion;
- increased focus on the hazards in working around skylights in commercial and residential construction
- an increase in interactive learning with ore participant engagement
- an increase in use with more types of PPE and examples of damaged equipment
- an accommodation for different body types
- an increased effort to manage anti-racist practices in the learning environment
We expect to bring our best to you and continue supporting all of you in the trades who need this program. We're excited for the changes, for the chance to update and look forward to finding new ways to spice up our program thats already hugely successful.
Stay tuned for more information as we enter the submission process!
