Traffic Control/ Book 7

This 1/2 day course (4 hours) can be offered onsite at CWST or off-site at the client location. Price is $150pp

Minimum class sizes are 5 participants, and in the event enrollment minimums aren't achieved, the next available dates will be offered to clients. 

This course is ideal for anyone in construction, landscape, municipal operations who may be working where traffic and pedestrian traffic risks may exist. Learn the difference between the role of a Traffic Control Person (TCP) and a spotter. Understand how to locate information and choose appropriate setups in locations where traffic may encroach on a work site. Be familiarized with the unique hazards of being a TCP.

Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of vehicle traffic hazards, establish effective procedures, and identify control options.

Certification valid for three years from date of issue.

Upon successful completion of Traffic Control/  Book 7, the learner will:

  • Understand regulations and be able to understand compliance guidelines from Book 7
  • Identify the hazards associated with traffic control on public roadways
  • Describe the conduct and physical requirements for the TCP
  • Understand the "spotter" versus "signaler" role on construction site and in road side work zones
  • Discuss safe practice and procedures with backing vehicles 
  • Be familiar with the challenges of vehicle/equipment blind spots 
  • Understand the necessity of jobsite planning 
  • Have general understanding on how to use  “Temporary Conditions” “Book 7” Ontario Traffic Manual
